Exploring Yarrows megalithic cemetery

It was a glorious sunny day, emphasising a contrast between these hilltop passage cairns and relatively sheltered Grey Cairns of Camster. There were amazing views across the Flow Country and also far as the hills of Hoy in Orkney.

In many ways Yarrows reminds me of elevated passage grave groups in Ireland such as Loughcrew and Carrowkeel. The situation of the Caithness cairns is perhaps not quite as spectacular, but there are equally long-distance views and the sense of elevation is tangible.
